If you are looking for a great advertising solution that is a quick, attention grabbing, and cost effective – look no further than vinyl signs. There is work that goes into creating a vinyl sign as it is a multi-step process and requires more than one piece of equipment to aid in the construction – however, don’t let that deter you.
Making a vinyl sign doesn’t take very long to do, whether you have had previous experience before or not. Each step of the process is fairly short, with the longest probably being the design phase- where you are creating your design in a software program like the kinds that are offered by Signlab 9. Signlab 9 offers different variations of software depending on the needs of your business. Whether you are a high volume shop or are doing more small scale jobs, there are different packages that will offer you the best advantages depending on your personal business needs.
Once your software design is completed you will need to print it out on the vinyl using a printer. After it has finished printing out, trim the banner up using cutting tools, over a cutting mat to protect any fragile surfaces.
An amazing piece of equipment that can aid your use in vinyl sign making is banner hem tape. Some companies finish out their banner by sewing the seam around the edge, but that can take a little extra time and if you want to save money you can do without that extra machine. Using banner hem tape is super easy, and looks nice too. All that is needed is to adhere the tape to the banner, fold over the edge of the taped banner – evenly, and use a squeegee to secure the hem. And, there you have it, a beautifully hemmed banner. There was an extra tool that was needed in this step, the squeegee, but it is small and very inexpensive. If you want to hang the banner this is the time you would add eyelets or grommets at the top two or even all four corners of the banner, using a hand press.
Though there are various pieces of equipment that are required to produce a vinyl banner, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Maintenance and upkeep are minimal – which is great. Cost is more a one-time up-front cost with a little maintenance. However, this is a great advantage – you can earn it all back plus a ton more! Whether you are making signs just for your own business and the advertisement is bringing in new customers and you are reaping the benefits that way. Or, if you purchased the equipment for a sign shop – you definitely will be earning your money back in no time.
